Hey woodfirers! There is a not to be missed symposium in Montana this October organized by @teadubpottery
Check out @culturalconfluencewoodfire to follow along and head over to culturalconfluencewoodfiresymposium.com for more details

This is the latest in a series of international events generously supported by James Kasper (USA) intending to celebrate the confluence of multiple woodfire traditions. Organized by Tara Wilson and held in Helena, MT the symposium will build upon these previous events with a goal of continuing a dialogue encompassing all aspects of contemporary wood fire practices. The mountainous setting and rich ceramic community of Helena will provide a creative arena for presenters and attendees alike to openly exchange ideas, build relationships, celebrate and further the evolution of wood fired ceramics.

I love the clay community.
I’m on the long drive home thinking about all the people I saw this week who I totally love. All the people that I’ve known for years and all the people I just met. It’s all about the people.
When I go to NCECA I don’t really got to any talks and I don’t make it to see many of the shows…I basically just walk around a talk to people, and go to eat and drink with people, which is really just a opportunity to talk to the more.
I usually lose my voice by the end of it all from talking so much. This year was no different.
I especially love @artistpotter and @warrenfrederick
I think this photo shows that. We talked about Tasmania a lot @ridgelinepottery

I had a great experience working for @starworksceramics at NCECA this year, along with all these talented and amazing people.
It easy to “sell” something that you love and believe in.
The clays from North Carolina are something special and I’m proud to be a part of this team that is bringing the clays I love to the greater ceramics community.
I fell in love with digging and processing my own clay almost 15 years ago. It’s a laborious process and something that probably isn’t for everyone. That’s what makes Starworks so special. They are making those clays available to the public with the same level of care and consideration that I bring to my own practice.
It’s icing on the cake that my friends Takuro and Hitomi are two of the nicest people I’ve met in this world and worthy of supporting.
If y’all didn’t get a chance to check us out at NCECA, look us up online or better yet just come down to Carolina and pay a visit.
Special things are happening here!

This is free and open to the public. Come on out and say hello.
We will be demonstrating some pottery techniques and I’ll be bringing the brick factory.

Just wrapped up a great 2 day workshop and lecture at Florida State College in Jacksonville. Thanks to @cottrellart for inviting me and Liz and all the folks for treating me so well. It’s been a blast.
Thanks to @trevortdunn and @stephenheywood and all the students from UNF for hanging.
I went surfing, collected shells, and toured the awesome facilities at UNF and FSCJ.
It’s happening down in Jacksonville!
It’s been real Florida, thanks for warming me up, but it’s time to hightail it back to my mountains.

I just finished up a whirlwind 5 days at Florida Atlantic University. We loaded, fired, unloaded, and cleaned the work from 2 kilns. Only one of which made it successfully to temperature… buts that’s how you learn!
I demonstrated and talked a bunch and shared multiple image presentations.
We even found some time to go to the beach and do some bowling.
It was a fantastic time.
I saw a lot of young people become excited about woodfiring. The transformation to empowerment that the kiln can have on people always fascinates me and fills my heart with joy and hope.
Thanks to Angel and Thomas for having me. And most of all thanks to all the students for being interested in my stories.
