I taught a woodfiring class at Arrowmont in 2016 and it was awesome. We got airbrushed t-shirts, took an olde tyme photo AND did a super successful woodfiring.
I’m teaching at Arrowmont again this summer and it’s sure to be a blast.
Registration is currently open.
Our class runs June 30th till July 13th…so it falls during July 4th which is a big deal in Gatlinburg (google it!)
My dear friend and talented woodfirer @tomalward will be assisting the class which is a total bonus.
Thanks to @arrowmont_school for having me back.
Check out their website to register.

The wood game is strong right now.
I built a bunch of new pallet ricks for the tractor that are all uniform, standardized and totally solid.
It’s the realization of a long term dream to have a system in place like this for my wood kiln complex.
We still store all the side stoke wood and 2nd and 3rd chamber box length wood under the kiln shed, but all the split cord wood for the main fire boxes can be stored away from the kilns… which is amazing because it makes the kilns feel waaayyy less crowded and messy.

It was a big weekend with the amazing telehandler machine!!!
We moved 6 very heavy loads of bricks to 3 different sites. The last of the firebricks from last years East Fork Kiln tear down.
Since there is no wood kiln there anymore, I moved all the kiln wood that East Fork had prepared to my land for future firings!!! 3 loads like this in total. It’s a lot of wood.
Thanks to the folks at @eastforkpottery for making this resource available to the community. It’s good to see it go to new homes, and I’m glad that this wood is going to get melted into glaze… as it was always intended for.
Also if folks are interested in what will become of the Old East Fork Pottery, my friend @marjoriedial bought it and is making a residency program. Check out @township10
It’s really the best thing that could have happened in my opinion (other than East Fork staying in Madison County that is!) Look for 3 new wood kilns being built out of these bricks in the future. With @candicehensley @nicklistoceramics @merryfarmpottery
