So glad to share some time with one of my dearest friends Rachel for her birthday celebration today on Dogwood pasture at Warren Wilson College. Rachel and I met at WWC 17 years ago and our “family” has been celebrating her birthday and the coming of spring on Dogwood for the past 11 years. Those hills are filled with countless beautiful memories for me. I fell truly blessed to have attended such an amazing college with so many talented and creative people who continue to be my closest friends in this world. Feeling the Wilson family love in a big way today. #warrenwilson #family #springishere #adventure #apotterslife

After leaving the whirlwind that’s been the Providence NCECA today, I realized that I didn’t make any Instagram posts the whole time I was there. There didn’t seem to be any images that described what happened for me there and what mattered to me most. I had some of the best conversations I’ve had in a while, photographs feel pointless and incapable of recording those moments sometimes. Sometimes I think photographs and social media trivialize those experiences and actually distract from really experiencing them. There was however this image, that definitely wasn’t about conversations, and is about another side of NCECA that is actually very valuable to me. Here’s to one of the hands down most fun dance parties I’ve had in a while with @alindsayo @alixb_alixb @richthepotter @brooksoliver @jrothshank @jasonbburnett @arthurhalvorsen @dustinfowlerceramics @wes_harvey1 @candicehensley I’m still smiling ya’ll. #ncecadanceparty #nceca #ceramics #apotterslife

Portrait at the brick plant. Something very powerful happened to me here. I think someday I will totally understand the gravity of this moment. I recognize this as a huge turning point in my life and in my work. Something clicked. Maybe it felt like getting permission to really go were you want to be. Maybe it was just really seeing it for the first time, really feeling in in your deepest places. Something you have always suspected was there. I don’t feel like I have the answers to anything, more like the right questions to ask. A way forward. #thebrickplant #aturningppoint #joshcopus #apotterslife #ceramics

This was one of the truly special moments of my recent wild clay adventure tour of North Carolina. Standing around the old truck, talking about the exciting potential of all these new materials with Mark Hewitt, Takuro Shibata, Bill Jones, and Michael Hunt. Hewitt, of course is a legend, especially around these parts. Takuro is the owner of Starworks Ceramics, a great company that is specializing in moist clay bodies made with NC wild clays. Bill Jones is one of the important young voices in the state and just finished up working with Daniel and Kate Johnston. And Michael Hunt is my number one clay geek out, brother in clay hunting partner. I always feel blessed to be a part of it all. It never fails to amaze me how this dirt brings us together. @bandanapottery #brothersinclay #wildclay #wildclaygeekout #apotterslife #ceramics

A portrait of Michael Hunt of @bandanapottery at the brick factory. Michael has been such an influential person in my life and career, a true brother in clay, friend, teacher, and peer. He helped to support and promote my earliest interests and forays into the world of wild clays and local materials. It was a full circle moment to be able to take him to this place, and in some way return the favor, pay it forward, and share the wealth. #michaelhunt #brothersinclay #payitforward #wildclay #wildclaygeekout #apotterslife
