I’ve been think a lot about @watershedceramics this morning and the things that places like it offer us. The time to think creatively, the space to explore, make connections, and share your work with your peers. Eat good food, swim in ponds, and sit around fires late into the night. These are just some of the things this place gives to us. I’ve also been meditating on what we give to these places. Our energy, enthusiasm, our work… Without these things places like Watershed are empty, they are just spaces needing to be filled…it is people that make it what it is. People are the greatest resource and asset. It is our job to fill these spaces with energy. I’ve been thinking about my responsibility within that relationship… As someone who accepts what is offered but also gives something in return. I gave Watershed my energy. That was my offering. I left behind these bricks as a reminder of that energy. As an artifact of that experience. These bricks are my gift. I hope to share them with as many of you as possible. #buildingcommunityproject #buildingcommunity #communitybrick #communitybuilding #communitybrickproject #apotterslife #community #ceramics

Sending out another shipment of COMMUNITY bricks fro the Shelburne Falls Post Office. 8 years ago I sent a brick to this Post Office for Mary Baringer, and she said they still talk about it her small New England village… So I figured we would give them something to talk about for the next 8 years. #communitybrickproject #communitybuilding #buildingcommunity #buildingcommunityproject #community #ceramics #apotterslife

It’s been a @thestudiopotter kind of day. I started my day with a coffee, a tour of the unbelievably quaint New England town of Shelburne Falls, and a great conversation with THE Mary Baringer… And I got to visit her original COMMUNITY brick I sent to her 8 years ago when I first started the project…they are still talking about it at the post office (more on that later). #potterytour #buildingcommunity #buildingcommunityproject #community #communitybrick #communitybuilding #communitybrickproject #apotterslife #adventure

Building community. @robske200 with his new brick. I saw Rob’s emerging artist presentation at NCECA this year and like everyone in that room I was blown away. If you don’t know it already, check out his work. #buildingcommunity #buildingcommunityproject #communitybrick #communitybuilding #communitybrickproject #ceramics #community

Tom, the postmaster at the office in Damriscotta, Maine. One of my favorite things about the building community project is when I send the bricks in the mail. It’s always interesting and always a great opportunity to engage people in unexpected ways. When I walked in to mail the bricks, the other postal worker was confused as to whether I was allowed to mail a brick with out a box… But Tom knew… He said “he can mail a sock if he wants to”. Tom was a great help and very interested in the project. #mailingbricks #mailart #buildingcommunity #buildingcommunityproject #communitybrick #communitybrickproject #apotterslife
