Now is the time to sign up for the Mountain PreHEAT and fire the Temple kiln with us. The Temple is a 3 chamber climbing kiln, and one of the 3 kilns that we will be firing at my compound during the pre-conference. We will also be firing 6 other kilns and you can put work in all of them. As of Friday there were only 17 spots left. So if you’ve been thinking about joining us, now is the time to make the move!
Check out WoodfireNC.com for more details and to register.

Last summer I started planning the most ambitious version of the building community project to date with my friend and collaborator @thingsonshelves. 9 days ago I learned that I was not awarded the grant to fund this project. It was devastating. A truly crushing blow to my dreams. The thing about this project is that it’s unstoppable. We are in way to deep to turn back now, regardless of whether I can afford to do it or not, I will do it and it will happen. I believe in this thing… Even if a panel of 4 judges don’t. Sometimes you just have to take your shots where you can and sort it out later. Since then I’ve been slowly recovering from my disappointment. Realizing that I am supported in many ways by many people. My visit with Steve at the brick plant helped a lot. He’s amongst the most generous and helpful human beings I’ve ever met. Just being there turned my anxiety back into excitement. I need to be excited for this to work. In my life I often say that relationships are my greatest resource. My connections with people in this world are what have taken me to where I am today. It’s never been about money. Social capital is my tender of choice. I guess it’s only fitting that this project wouldn’t be any different. Onward. Let’s do this!!! #buildingcommunityproject #buildingcommunity #communitybrick #communitybrickproject #community #apotterslife #joshcopuspottery #joshcopus #ceramics #brick

I just got the latest Log Book in the mail yesterday. Always a nice surprise to have your work featured on the cover. If your into woodfiring and don’t subscribe to the Log Book, consider checking it out at www.thelogbook.net It’s a great way to learn about what’s happening in the international woodfiring community. It’s also just good reading material to have around the studio. Also check out the other artists profiled in this edition. @nancy.fuller @spistudios @robindupontceramics @potterstefanandersson And of course props to Coll Minogue and Robert Sanderson for making it all happen since 2000!! #logbook #thelogbook #woodfire #woodfiredceramics #woodkiln #woodfiredpottery #apotterslife #joshcopus

The natural world and my experience with it are the greatest sources of influence with the work. This piece. Very much touched by the hand. Reminiscent of the sun, clouds, grasses and wind. Full of the energy that I bring to the work. Whatever name you call that thing that I’m chasing… This piece has it. #squarewedge #joshcopus #ceramics #woodfiredceramics #stonevessel
