Great first day of the Cultural Confluences Symposium collecting wild materials with @woodfirelust
It was wonderful to get out a see some of Montana and feel this place and what it can inspire.
One of the things I’ve always appreciated about wild clay prospecting is how much enthusiasm it can inspire in people. I think the looks on people’s faces in these images really tell the story.

I had a great experience working for @starworksceramics at NCECA this year, along with all these talented and amazing people.
It easy to “sell” something that you love and believe in.
The clays from North Carolina are something special and I’m proud to be a part of this team that is bringing the clays I love to the greater ceramics community.
I fell in love with digging and processing my own clay almost 15 years ago. It’s a laborious process and something that probably isn’t for everyone. That’s what makes Starworks so special. They are making those clays available to the public with the same level of care and consideration that I bring to my own practice.
It’s icing on the cake that my friends Takuro and Hitomi are two of the nicest people I’ve met in this world and worthy of supporting.
If y’all didn’t get a chance to check us out at NCECA, look us up online or better yet just come down to Carolina and pay a visit.
Special things are happening here!

We’ve been doing some major infrastructure projects on the various properties this week. Yesterday I was installing new culverts at the farm and found a bunch of really exciting new clay!!!
I’m excited to start using clay from the farmland where @carolinaflowers_ grows all the flowers.
