An always unbelievable amount of pottery came out of the kiln 4 days ago. I’m still getting used to it all. I think some of it is pretty good. Last day of cold working before my photo shoot and truck loading tomorrow. One more big push before the @pottersmarketinvitational #potteryinitsnaturalhabitat #potsatrest #coldworkingday #woodfiredceramics #woodfiredkiln #apotterslife

We unloaded the kiln today. It seems like it was a good firing, but it’s always a lot to take in on the first day. The next few days I’ll be sorting and cold working everything, figuring out what worked and what didn’t. What’s good and what’s not. More to come… #unloadingday #apotterslife #woodfiredceramics #woodfiredkiln

Closing up the 3rd chamber. The level of hard work and dedication that goes into pulling off a firing is immense. For anyone who has never experienced it… It’s hard to really fathom. I’m extremely grateful for everyone who contributes to this event. It is truly a team effort across the board… From my friend Paul who cooks the pizzas to Nina who brought a new hot water kettle so we could mix up the soda ash solution after ours broke. And especially to the 3 who are with me at the tired deleterious end. With the best partner @msemilypie and my two aces @micahmakespots and @mattwegleitner Thanks also to @hollomoncookceramics @sydgnar @ninakawar and the people I problem forgot cause I’m sooooo tired right now…y’all know who you are. Now for a day of movies and ice cream. Then unload on Saturday for the @themintmuseum potters market invitational. Fingers crossed. #closingupthekiln #3:30finish #apotterslife #woodfiredceramics #woodkiln #woodfire #pottersmarketinvitational #mintmuseum

A bed with a view. I always spend the first night with the kiln. It’s a special time for me. The 1st overnight is a campfire outside the kiln, so it doesn’t require as much attention. Over the years I’ve developed a pretty strong “sleep fire” ability… So we make up a bed in front of the kiln, move all the wood we need to get through the night as close as possible and roll over every thirty minutes or so to thrown some logs on the fire. It’s a pretty magical time. I’m glad to be sharing it with @msemilypie #1stovernight #woodfiredceramics #apotterslife #woodkiln #woodfire
